Principal's News

Dear St Thomas Aquinas community,

I would simply like to thank everyone for an amazing term. Together we have:

  • celebrated 50 years of providing education in the West Belconnen area
  • presented a whole school dance concert
  • attended many sporting events from track and field to numerous gala days
  • recognised 100 days of Kindergarten
  • welcomed grandparents
  • dressed up and paraded for Book Week
  • enjoyed Donuts with Dad
  • celebrated many prayer liturgies and masses
  • acknowledged the achievements of students by presenting many awards
  • finished on a high with a disco

Thank you everyone who has been a part of one or more of these enjoyable and positive community experiences. Thank you to our SCC for supporting the community. Thank you parents for helping your child(ren) participate. Thank you staff for working beyond what is required, to ensure students continue to grow and belong.

School Uniform

Next term we transition to a summer uniform. At the SCC last week we discussed the summer uniform to clarify the expectations for a consistent uniform reflecting our school, our standards and our identity. Before the end of this week I will write to all families to communicate what the St Thomas Aquinas uniform expectations are for Term 4. There will be no major changes, just clarity.

Staff Changes

Each year teachers have an opportunity to try a voluntary transfer for a year to see what other professional opportunities are out there. In 2026 Mr Joshua Mackenzie will be teaching at St Francis Xavier College, trying out teaching in high school. I know we'll miss his humour and warmth. We wish him the very best on this new chapter.

STA Community Day

The parish are looking forward to providing a community day this Sunday. Please consider coming along to meet others and experience the welcome of the parish community.

Spring is my favourite time of year. It is full of warmth, optimism and hope. I hope everyone enjoys a lovely break from school and plenty of time together. I look forward to seeing you all on Tuesday 14 October.

Thank you all.
